Experienced forest man takes over - Gunnar Olofsson Sveaskog's new president Gunnar Olofsson, 49, was yesterday 1 September appointed by the company's Board as acting President of Sveaskog. Gunnar Olofsson has sound experience of forestry and industry. After obtaining his Master of Forestry degree, he worked within the forest organisation and held a number of senior positions within the Persson Invest Group, including being responsible for the sawmill operations and raw material procurement. Up until today Gunnar Olofsson has been Directory of Forestry at Sveaskog and head of the Forestry operating area. He is also Chairman of Svenska Skogsplantor AB. He is taking up his new position with immediate effect. "My feelings as I look forward to leading Sveaskog are a blend of humility and excitement. The company is Europe's largest forest owner and we will work to make Sveaskog a leading forestry company and an exemplary industry player," says Gunnar Olofsson. "Since I have already been a member of Sveaskog's group management I am well familiar with the company's day-to-day operations. This experience will shorten my running-in period for my role as CEO. Our business partners and other stakeholders must feel that the company's activities continue to have the continuity that characterises Sveaskog," Gunnar Olofsson concludes. "Gunnar Olofsson has the background and experience that is required to lead Sveaskog.
