Svedala makes acquisition and strengthens positions in bulk handling Svedala has acquired the material handling equipment division of Strachan & Henshaw, a subsidiary of the Weir Group. The acquired operations are based in Great Britain, with annual sales of about SEK 180 M and 45 employees. The company is being consolidated in Svedala's accounts in the second quarter and will be part of the Bulk product area, which reported total invoicing in 1999 of about SEK 1,600 M. Strachan & Henshaw's materials handling operations hold a strong position on the market for dumpers and for stackers/reclaimers. This equipment is used in loading, unloading and conveying of bulk materials in ports, terminals and mines, among other areas. As a result of the acquisition, Svedala strengthens its position on the market and complements the current product program. Svedala's position is also strengthened geographically by the acquisition. As announced earlier, Svedala Bulk has also acquired all shares in the former partly owned company Mukand-McNally Wellman Ltd. in India. The company has annual sales of slightly more than SEK 30 M and about 40 employees.
