Åre 2019 launches official logo
With three ski seasons to go until the 2019 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, Åre 2019 today presented its official logo and brand at the annual town meeting (Åredagen). The event’s visual identity merges the town’s history in Alpine Skiing and the memory of the first World Championships in 1954 with the present and future of the sport in a fascinating way.
The launch of the brand is an important milestone for the Åre 2019 organisation. The logo draws on the long history of Alpine Skiing in Åre - a town best known as the heart of Alpine Skiing in Scandinavia - and the local community. After the successes of the 1954 and 2007 events, the vision for the third edition of the Championships in Åre is to "inspire the world to ski," with the live event in February 2019 representing the peak of a nationwide celebration of skiing. Åre 2019 will be an once-in-a-lifetime event for friends of skiing, and a showcase of the passion of the sport. The official logo is dynamic and available on red or white background.
“The visual concept of the event is built on the fundamentals that make Åre unique: We have snow, the mountains and winter weather. They form the basis for the stylistic snowflake that is combined with the special flair of Åre in the form of a modern version of the 1954 logo. The silver is what represents the sport of skiing; its speed, performance and competition. The logo is a symbol of all that Åre offers to recreational and competitive skiing alike,” says John Crawford-Currie, Creative Director of Åre 2019 AB.
“The Åre 2019 logo is a modern take on the first World Championships in Åre in 1954, joining the past with the future and demonstrating how Åre not only has a long and respected history but that it also represents the future of ski racing. Our plan is to raise the bar, to go from good to great; we will both inspire and motivate people to be part of this fantastic sport,“ adds Niklas Carlsson, CEO of Åre 2019 AB.
Åre 2019 will have an increasing presence in the Jämtland region beginning with the current season, including welcoming guests to Åre and Östersund entering the local airport.
