Svenska UMTS Nät signs Letter of Intent with Ericsson Svenska UMTS Nät has signed a Letter of Intent with Ericsson for the provision of UMTS equipment for the Swedish market. The rollout plan for Svenska UMTS Nät is based on the license terms set by the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS). According to the terms, operators are to offer a functioning UMTS network in an area of Sweden by January 1, 2002, and to roll out a fully built network before year-end 2003. Svenska UMTS Nät is a 50-50 joint venture between Telia Mobile and Tele2. The company will build and operate a network for the next generation of mobile telephony, UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). "We consider Ericsson to be an excellent partner for developing the mobile network of the future and look forward to good co-operation with the company.
