SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB has significantly increased the number of governmental organizations in Asia, as customers during the last couple of years. The majority of them invest in turn key solutions from SWE-DISH for voice, data and video communication over secure broadband satellite links.

SWE-DISH has seen drastic changes in the governmental sector of the satellite communication business in the last couple of years. The focus has moved from larger national networks with fixed terminals to networks with smaller mobile terminals suited for rapid deployment abroad, where interoperability to other organizations networks is a key functionality. The interoperability requirement has forced a migration to open standards based infrastructure, where IP is the primary way of communicating. This fits the SWE-DISH product portfolio very well i.e. the IPT Suitcase in combination with SWE-DISH communication kits such as the Mobile Office, providing satellite communication for numerous numbers of simultaneous users. The SWE-DISH solution offers a highly integrated multimedia solution for voice, (both analogue and IP), video conference, video streaming and large number of LAN extensions over an encrypted broadband satellite connection. The need for satellite terminals to be used for rapid deployments has lead to the acceptance of using Ku-band satellite capacity, also for mission critical traffic. The only way of achieving high data through put, in combination of a small, flexible and user friendly satellite terminals is by using Ku-band, and the SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase is a good example of this. Lars Jehrlander, CEO at SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, says "We see it’s not only military and Security organizations that need ‘Net Centric’ capabilities. More and more governmental organizations and NGO’s are moving in this direction. The SWE-DISH IPT Suitcase plays a central role for many organizations to rapidly bring secure broadband communication for voice, data and video to the field. Example of successful deployments with our IPT Suitcase is Swedish Rescue Service Agency in Indonesia 2004 for the Tsunami relief efforts, US Authorities during Hurricane Katrina 2005 and now latest Singaporean Authorities disaster relief mission to Central Java Earthquake.” -End-
