SWE-DISH Satellite Systems presents Second Generation Suitcase at NAB
SWE-DISH Satellite Systems presents the Second Generation of the Suitcase offering higher performance and increased ease of use. It is showed in our booth MM:116 at NAB, Las Vegas.
The new Second Generation of the Suitcase family comes with new functionality, as well as several enhancements. Even if the exterior retains it characteristic look, the interior has changed in several ways, and the Second Generation Suitcase offers higher performance and much increased ease of use. The main new functions include: • Point & Shoot, letting the Suitcase automatically find and auto peak on the satellite selected by the user in the IPT user interface • Full compatibility with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) weight and size concept • TCP Accelerator, which dramatically improves the throughput and efficiency of Internet data sent over satellite • Increased maximum bandwidth, where the IPT Suitcase now supports a bandwidth up to 4 Mbps with the integrated modem, and up to 8 Mbps with external modem, depending on link budget. • Turbo Product Coding (TPC) which is one of the most advanced forward error-correction techniques available for satellite modems today, reducing the amount of power required to transmit In addition, 107 other functional and constructional improvements have found their way into the Second Generation Suitcase, ranging from increased contrast in the GUI for outdoor use, to a new lock construction. With the Suitcase family, SWE-DISH has pioneered a new class of small sized satellite terminals. The Suitcase has received vast customer endorsement, with well over 200 units sold or on order. Several competitors have followed suite and introduced small sized satellite terminals of their own. Lars Jehrlander, CEO at SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, says “The jump up to the Second Generation Suitcase brings significant new functionality to the user, and reaffirms our leading position in the small sized satellite terminals segment”. The Suitcase family has grown and now consists of four members: the fully fledged IPT Suitcase with integrated satellite modem, the lower cost DVB Suitcase without internal modem, the military spec IPT Mil Suitcase, and the IPT-i Mil Suitcase with integrated iDirect modem. Lars Jehrlander concludes, “Much of the new functionality is based on the feed-back and discussions we have had with our customers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them.”
