SWE-DISH SUITCASE GETS IPSTAR CERTIFICATE
The SWE-DISH Suitcase has been awarded an IPSTAR test certificate. This simplifies usage in Asia, and is also a confirmation of the Suitcase’s performance.
The SWE-DISH Suitcase is, with this certificate, again breaking new ground. It is the first terminal of its type, small mobile broadband satellite terminals, to receive such a certificate. By receiving this certificate, the IPT Suitcase proves that small Ku-band satellite terminals can be operated in the South East Asian area. The usage of Ku-band when transmitting in South East Asia is increasing. In the region, SWE-DISH has commissioned several VSAT networks with mobile remote satellite terminals using the IPT Suitcase. Typical users are governmental organizations, using satellite communication for disaster relief or defense applications, as well as broadcasters using the equipment in breaking news and coverage of major events. The IPSTAR satellite is developed and owned by one of the largest commercial satellite companies in Asia, Shin Satellite PLC. The IPSTAR is a new generation of IP based satellites offering a broadband Internet/multimedia platform. IPSTAR delivers bandwidth on demand. This allows efficient use of bandwidth, making it ideal for broadband access to private companies and governmental organizations. IPSTAR is able to provide secure and efficient high-speed virtual private network (VPN) to organizations with multiple remote branches over a public network. Organizations are able to easily set up Intranet networks for various data, voice and video applications. Lars Jehrlander, CEO of SWE-DISH, says “Not only will this latest certificate from IPSTAR strengthen our market position in Thailand, it also opens up for new markets in Asia and gives our customers more flexibility where and how to use a Suitcase terminal. The IPSTAR satellite has good coverage in key areas of Asia and Oceania. The services available; voice, data and video are impressive, making it a perfect match to our Suitcase terminal that brings portability, flexibility and easy of use to the table.” The SWE-DISH Suitcase has previously been awarded type approvals from Intelsat (IA097AA0), Eutelsat (EA-V042), Europe*Star (ES-ME-39), Hispasat and has also received a FCC license. Lars Jehrlander concludes, “These licenses and approvals together give Suitcase users easy access to global coverage of satellite capacity. They are not awarded lightly. Rigorous and extensive testing, documentation and verification form a foundation. We are proud over our Suitcase product family. They are the only small mobile broadband satellite terminals that have received all these approvals and licenses. “
