SWE-DISH will offer, combat proven Quad-Band Fly-Away

SWE-DISH Satellite Systems has verified, in an extensive verification done by independent bodies that its existing FA150Tri-band (Ku, X and C-band) Fly-Away is fully compliant and compatible with the military Ka-band frequency.

The new Quad-Band Fly-Away system will address the need in the commercial, government and military markets to operate in a wider frequency range. The higher frequency of the Ka-band enables for faster data transmission rates via satellite. Another major advantage of the Ka-band frequency includes the ability of smaller communication beams, allowing more users to share the available bandwidth. The FA150 Fly–Away antenna series is designed to be ruggedized, up- and down link satellite terminals for easy transport and rapid deployment during harsh environmental conditions. The FA150 Fly-Away antenna is a high performing elliptical 1.5 m Gregorian offset antenna. It consists of a four piece segmented, very light and durable carbon fiber composite reflector. The dual optics Gregorian antenna concept allows a small antenna size combined with exceptionally good efficiency, low side lobes, and good cross polarization/axial ratio performance. This very efficient antenna design, has resulted in one of the smallest DISA certified X-band terminal approved for operations on DSCS X-band space segment. Lars Jehrlander, CEO at SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, says “We will now take this antenna one step further. We will make it the smallest Quad-Band system available on the market, by adding Ka-band to the already existing Ku, X and C-band. Planned volume deliveries will take place from 2007, well in line with the demands and needs of Wideband SATCOM systems and availability of satellite capacity.” The SWE-DISH Fly-Away satellite terminal family has grown and now consists of: - FA150K Fly-Away: the well established system where the transport crate unfolds and forms the platform for the antenna; - FA150K Lite: where the housing crate has been removed to enable IATA shipping concept by stowing in separate IATA flight cases; - FA150T Mil Fly-Away: the world's smallest DISA certified tri-band terminal which can operate on Ku-, X- and C-band.
