Swebus launches Airport Transfer– direct buses between Stockholm City and Arlanda airport
Sweden’s leading express bus company Swebus is now extending its operations and is launching direct routes between Arlanda airport and Cityterminalen in central Stockholm. The journey time is 35 minutes. With Swebus Airport Transfer the company enters the battle for airline passengers.
From Monday the 24th of May, direct buses from Swebus will start running between Arlanda and Cityterminalen with departures every quarter of an hour during the busiest times of the day. The journey takes 35 minutes and connects with Swebus’ other scheduled routes at Cityterminalen. Many of the airline passengers live in the Stockholm region, but there is also an increasing demand for public transport to Arlanda from other places around Sweden. With Airport Transfer, Swebus enters the battle for airline passengers and becomes the first on the market to offer bus journeies all the way to the domicile. Anyone living in Nyköping, Linköping or Västervik, for example, can buy a ticket all the way to Arlanda from Swebus. “We’re now starting to offer comfortable, value-for-money direct journeys with frequent departures to Arlanda and with free internet access and free morning papers on board,” says Swebus CEO Joakim Palmkvist. “Over 16 million people travel to and from Arlanda every year, and forecasts indicate that this number is set to rise in the future. We want to make it easy for all these passengers to leave their cars at home and take the bus instead.” “Here at Arlanda we see this expansion of public transport as a very positive step,” says Jan Lindqvist, head of corporate communication at Arlanda. “After all, linking regional public transport to global public transport is one of the airport’s key roles. Increased competition due to more players, will also benefit travellers in the long run.” The tickets for the jouney between Stockholm and Arlanda cost from SEK 89 and can be purchased, among other places, at Pressbyrån, 7-Eleven, from Swebus ticket machines at Arlanda and Cityterminalen and online at www.swebus.se.
