Swebus is launching new bus routes from Skåne and Gothenburg to Ullared. With many bargain-hunters travelling long distances and a total of 4.5 million customers a year, there is a huge need for public transport to the Gekås Ullared department store. The new bus routes will offer even more bus transport between several destinations in Skåne. The first bus will run on 24 April.

“We think it’s really positive that Swebus wants to invest in public transport to us here in Ullared. It will give many more people the chance to travel here in a way that is value for money and eco-friendly too,” says Boris Lennerhov, Managing Director of Gekås Ullared.

The new bus routes to Ullared will depart from Gothenburg and Malmö. En route to Ullared the buses from Malmö will stop in Lund, Landskrona, Helsingborg and Ängelholm. In Gothenburg buses will stop in several suburbs including Angered and Frölunda.

“It feels fantastic to start taking keen shoppers to Ullared. We’ve got plenty of luggage space for all the shopping bags packed with bargains,” says Swebus press officer Ingvar Ryggesjö. “Up until now there has been no public transport whatsoever from places outside the county of Halland to Ullared, while more and more people are looking for ways to get there easily and cheaply. Ullared has in fact been the most popular new destination suggested by our passengers for some time now.”

Tickets for the route will be available in Swebus’ ordinary booking system and on the bus network. This means that passengers can also buy tickets between any two stops covered by the new route, e.g. between Landskrona and Ängelholm.

“This will also be a different way of developing the public transport available in partnership with business,” says Ingvar Ryggesjö. “The initiative not only provides more public transport to Ullared, it also increases provision between more destinations in Skåne. This is a new and important way of increasing travel by public transport in Sweden.”

The price of an adult single ticket is SEK 89 from Gothenburg to Ullared and SEK 119  from Malmö to Ullared. There are discounts for pensioners, students, young people and children. Tickets on the new routes are available for sale now at www.swebus.se.
