SWECO FFNS Arkitekter has acquired the Finnish architectural firm of Paatela-Paatela & Co. The company is specialised in architectural assignments for the healthcare sector, primarily in Finland but also in the international market.

”The acquisition will broaden our Nordic base and reinforce our capabilities in the healthcare area,” says Eva Nygren, Managing Director of SWECO FFNS. The healthcare sector is expected to show powerful future demand for new construction, renovation and rebuilding. Investments are needed in both the Nordic region and eastwards in countries like Russia, the Ukraine, Japan and China. ”International healthcare projects often demand substantial resources and a wide range of specialists. Together with Paatela-Paatela we will have greater scope to carry out major projects in the healthcare sector,” says Eva Nygren. Paatela-Paatela & Co, established in 1919, has 15 employees and an annual turnover of more than 1 million euro. SWECO FFNS will initially acquire 30 per cent of the shares in the company, to be following by the remaining 70 per cent next year. SWECO FFNS has 320 employees in Sweden and Denmark and had an annual turnover of around 36 million euros in 2004. SWECO is already present in Finland through SWECO PIC, a company in which the Group’s industrial consultants are gathered.
