SWECO has signed an agreement to acquire one of Finland’s leading project management companies, CM–Urakointi Oy. The acquisition will be a valuable complement to SWECO’s existing operations in Finland and will strengthen the opportunities for growth to the east.

SWECO, through its subsidiary SWECO PIC, is already one of the leading industrial consulting companies in Finland and also conducts architectural operations in the country. ”Now we are taking the next step by broadening our offering to include project management services. The acquisition will give us better capacity to take on major construction and infrastructure projects, both in Finland and Eastern Europe,” says Wigon Thuresson, Managing Director and CEO of SWECO. CM–Urakointi Oy, founded in 1989, has 56 employees and an annual turnover of EUR 7 million. In recent years the company has provided project and construction management services in projects ranging from electrification of railways in northern Finland to construction of one of the Nordic region’s largest shopping centre in Helsinki region. Following the acquisition, SWECO will have close to 1,000 employees in Finland in the areas of industrial consulting, architecture and project management.
