Sweco has signed a contract with the State Water Holding Polish Waters, as part of a consortium, for the review and preparation of flood risk management plans. The value of the contract is 9.4 million EUR.

The review and update of the flood risk management plans concern the Odra, Vistula and Pregoła river basin areas as well as areas exposed to flood hazard in the Danube, Łaba and Nemunas river areas.

The assignment also includes a public information campaign and public consultation in the areas that are close to the river basins. The review and update of the flood risk management plans are expected to be finalized by the end of Q1 2022.

The project is part of the Polish government’s goal to adapt to climate change and to increase resilience towards natural disasters. Sweco has several similar ongoing projects in Poland and other countries across Europe.
