Sweco has been selected by the City of Stockholm to provide extensive data coordination services in connection with planning and design of the new Slussen area in the city centre. The contract is worth around EUR 918,000 and is Sweco’s largest ever in data coordination.

The Slussen area in Stockholm is a well known but worn and outdated public transport hub that will now be demolished and completely rebuilt. Construction of the new Slussen will be started in 2012 and completed in 2018. Sweco is responsible for planning of project communication and document management approaches and solutions during the planning and design phase. This means that Sweco will develop and coordinate processes, working methods and flows in the project and ensure effective IT support for these. “Data coordination for Slussen is a complex task that demands specialised IT expertise and an understanding of the planning and design process. Sweco offers both in-depth experience and innovation in this area, and therefore had the most competitive tender for the contract,” says Mårten Frumerie, Project Manager, City of Stockholm Planning and Real Estate Division. ”Sweco has many years of experience in data coordination for large-scale projects. In recent years these activities have grown dramatically, above all through major infrastructure and public sector assignments,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sverige. Data coordination is a complex discipline that involves several different areas of expertise, such as GIS and CAD coordination, document management, information portals, IT support, data conversion and data transformation.
