Sweco has been selected for construction and project management of a new children’s hospital in Helsinki, Finland. The assignment is one more in a line of many major healthcare projects for Sweco. The contract is worth about EUR 2 million.

“The need for a new hospital is urgent, since the old building is not dimensioned to house all of the high-tech equipment that is required. It is an inspiring task to take part in creating what will result in one of the world’s best children’s hospitals,” says Jyrki Keinänen, President of Sweco PM.

Sweco has been commissioned for construction and project management throughout the entire process until the hospital stands completed. One key aspect of the assignment is to combine technical expertise with knowledge about the complex activities conducted in a hospital environment. By identifying and meeting the most critical needs, Sweco can ensure that the hospital is built in a way that provides optimal conditions for operating efficiency and quality.

Sweco has longstanding experience of major healthcare projects in the Nordic region. The company is currently working on the New Karolinska Hospital in Solna, Kungälv’s hospital and Karlstad Central Hospital. Sweco’s assignment will begin immediately and the new hospital is scheduled to open in December 2017.
