Sweco has acquired the architectural business APA Markowski Architekci with around 20 employees in Warsaw. The company was founded in 1992 and offers services in areas such as landscape architecture.

The acquisition represents a further step in Sweco’s strategic initiative to grow in Central and Eastern Europe.

“The main motive for the acquisition is to widen our range of services in Poland by supplementing our existing capabilities with architecture, primarily landscape architecture in this case. Another goal is to expand geographically into the capital city region,” says Gregor Rolski, President of Sweco Poland.

In 2010 Sweco established operations in Poland through the acquisitions of the water and environment consultancy Hydroprojekt Krakow and the infrastructure engineering consultancy Transprojekt Krakow, both of which are active in southern Poland.

Including the acquired architectural unit in Warsaw, Sweco has about 210 employees in Poland.
