Sweco has been commissioned by Atrium Ljungberg to take part in renewal of the Mobila district in central Malmö. Three new buildings are scheduled for construction and Sweco has been given responsibility for all planning of electrical, telecom, HVAC and sanitation systems. The contract is worth over EUR 2.3 million.

“Atrium Ljungberg places high demands on sustainable solutions for energy consumption and environmental classification of its buildings. This is one of Sweco’s largest assignments in southern Sweden and we are currently hiring many new employees in the region,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sweden.

Central Malmö is undergoing an exciting transformation in which old architecture is being replaced with new. A mix of retail, cultural and residential space will together create a vibrant and dynamic community. The three new buildings will be designed to harmonise with older renovated structures of cultural-historical value. In total, the project will result in the addition of 67,000 square metres.

Facts about the assignment:

Sweco’s assignment includes planning of electrical, telecom and transport systems, HVAC (air treatment, heating, cooling, monitoring and control systems), geotechnical engineering and a feasibility study on geoenergy.
