SWECO develops new IT solution for the forestry industry

In yet another contract from the Swedish forestry industry, SWECO Position has been chosen by the forest owners’ association Skogsägarna Mellanskog to deliver a new IT solution for operations management including advanced mapping tools. The contract is worth over EUR 320,000.

”SWECO Position offers both technological innovation and in-depth knowledge of the forestry business, a combination that convinced us to choose them for the assignment”, says Lars Öhlén at Mellanskog. The new IT solution will be used by 200 employees at Mellanskog. The aim is to streamline the association’s activities, for example by facilitating operative planning and purchasing through timely and efficient access to updated map data. The new IT solution will also be mobile for effective use in the field. In a short span of time, SWECO Position has established a reputation as the leading provider of GIS, geographic information systems, to the forestry sector. The company is currently working with similar solutions for forestry sector organisations such as Sveaskog, Sydved and Södra skogsägarna. Skogsägarna Mellanskog is an association whose members include over half, 28,000, of all private forest owners in central Sweden. The association is active in timber brokerage and forest management.
