Sweco is acquiring Ludes, a German architecture design and project management consultancy with more than 100 employees, and thereby strengthening its offering and presence on the German market. The acquisition is expected to close soon after competition clearance, which is expected to take approximately 5 weeks.

“The acquisition of Ludes is an exciting and logical step forward in strengthening our position as the leading architecture and engineering consultancy in Europe. Sweco offers the broadest range of specialist expertise in our industry and architecture is a cornerstone of what we do. We are pleased to add strong, new capabilities in this area. Furthermore, we aspire to grow our German operations significantly through market consolidation. The acquisition of Ludes is a perfect example of how Sweco will apply its track record of profitable growth through mergers and integration to new markets,” says Tomas Carlsson, President and CEO of Sweco.

“We are very happy that Ludes becomes a part of Sweco. Our customers will continue to enjoy the same close relationships with local experts and a profound commitment to understanding our customers’ local contexts and needs. Thanks to Sweco’s size and complementary areas of expertise, we now strengthen our offering and create new opportunities for the future. Furthermore, we are glad to become part of an organisation with such strong roots in architecture. As owners and managers, we are committed to staying with the company and developing our offering as a part of Sweco,” says Stefan Ludes, Managing Director of Ludes.

“We look forward to welcoming Ludes, and its employees, to Sweco Germany. By combining Sweco’s reach and capabilities with Ludes’s deep expertise in architecture, we are creating a more comprehensive service portfolio that will benefit our customers and drive profitable growth. Sweco and Ludes are an excellent strategic fit with many complementary capabilities, especially in the healthcare sector. Our new colleagues will benefit from a larger network and increased opportunities. We look forward to planning and designing German communities and cities of the future together,” says Ina Brandes, President of Sweco Central Europe.
