SWECO has been commissioned to carry out a Technical Review for a new hydropower plant in central Vietnam. The contract is worth more than EUR 1.2 million.

SWECO will review the technical aspects and investigate the social and environmental impacts of building the new Song Bung 4 hydropower plant in Vietnam. The plant is one of many investments resulting from Vietnam’s national hydropower plan specifying how hydropower can best be utilised to contribute to the country’s energy supply. ”Although many international consulting companies bid for the contract, we are especially strong in the hydropower area and have been active in the country for several years. The SWECO Group has wide-ranging expertise with both Norwegian and Swedish hydropower experts who have successfully participated in complex assignments of this type,” says Mats Påhlsson, Managing Director of SWECO's Transportation and Civil Engineering unit, SWECO VBB. In recent years SWECO has carried out hydropower service assignments in Vietnam for a total of nearly EUR 4.2 million. The new assignment has been ordered by ADB, the Asian Development Bank, which wants a thorough analysis of the project before granting a construction loan to the Vietnamees power company. Consulting services will provided by SWECO VBB and SWECO Grøner and work is scheduled for completion at the end of 2006.
