SWECO’s recently acquired subsidiary CM-Urakointi Oy has been contracted to manage the refurbishment of Stockmann's in Helsinki. The project will take four years and cost around €125 million.

CM-Urakointi’s contract extends to procurement of subcontractors and construction management. The changes to the department store will include 10,000 square metres of additional selling space, three new underground parking levels and an entirely new top-floor restaurant seating 950. After refurbishment, the department store will have total selling space of about 50,000 square metres. CM-Urakointi, acquired by SWECO in March 2006, has 60 employees and is the leading project management company in Finland. The purpose of the acquisition was to fill out SWECO's operations in Finland and strengthen growth opportunities in markets east of Scandinavia. Earlier assignments for CM-Urakointi include project and construction management services in connection with electrification of railways in northern Finland and refurbishment of several large shopping centres in Finland.
