Sweco part of implementing the new Ahvenisto Hospital in Finland

Sweco will in alliance with Kanta-Häme Hospital District, Skanska and the architect consortium Team Integrated develop an integrated health services central hospital and healthcare centre in Hämeenlinna, Finland. 

Sweco has been involved in the development phase of Ahvenisto Hospital since 2018. The agreement for the implementation phase of the hospital was signed on 29 January 2021 and work will commence in February. The total order value for Sweco, including the development phase, is approximately EUR 22 million.

The alliance will continue their co-operation during the implementation phase. Sweco experts in the project include architects, structural engineers, building services designers, and specialists in functional design, logistics and user-centric design.

Ahvenisto Hospital will become a next generation integrated health services central hospital and will facilitate co-operation between specialised healthcare, basic healthcare, social services, university hospitals and private service providers. The new central hospital building consists of 74,000 square meters and it is estimated to be completed in 2026.
