The Finnish technology company PI-Rauma Oy, 50 percent of which is owned by SWECO PIC Oy and 50 percent by Technip Offshore Finland Oy, is being refined and divided into two businesses. SWECO PIC will be the sole owner of a new company formed by PI-Rauma’s consultancy business in the shipbuilding and offshore industries. The new company will have 130 persons. The remaining 88 persons, specialised in offshore operations for Technip, will transfer to Technip Offshore Finland. – The purpose is to develop operations by dividing PI-Rauma in line with the core business of the two owners, thus increasing the market potential. We will continue our successful collaboration with Technip after the separation, says Lauri Hintikka, MD of SWECO PIC. PI-Rauma has extensive knowledge and long experience of technical solutions for car and passenger ferries as well as for cruise ships and oil rigs. Recently, three substantial contracts were signed with the shipping companies Viking Line, Tallink and Brittany Ferries, for three car and passenger ferries that will be built by Aker Yards in Helsinki, Finland.
