SWECO has been awarded a contract to upgrade and expand the water and wastewater systems in the port city of Klaipeda. The contract is worth around EUR 750,000.

Klaipeda is home to Lithuania’s largest seaport and is one of the country’s fastest-growing cities, with a population of around 210,000. Due to these pressures, the municipal water and wastewater system is in need of modernisation. The assignment includes technical assistance and supervision during expansion of the water and wastewater systems. ”We plan to open a new office in Klaipeda in connection with the project start,” advises Per Johansson, Managing Director of SWECO’s Water and Environmental unit, SWECO VIAK. This assignment on behalf of the City of Klaipeda will run for the next four years. The contract was awarded, and will be carried out, by SWECO VIAK’s Lithuanian subsidiary SWECO BKG. Although SWECO BKG has had similar assignments in Lithuania, the Klaipeda project is the company’s largest ever.
