SWECO wins assignment from National Railway Administration SWECO Energuide has been awarded a major railway assignment in connection with relaying of tracks on the Älvsjö-Årsta section in Stockholm. The goal of the assignment is to relay the tracks for commuter and long-distance trains approaching from the south so that they are properly routed to the planned Citybanan, or "City Line". The assignment is highly complex, since the new tracks will intersect along this section. SWECO's consultants are responsible for preparing the required system documents in the areas of signal safety and power supply. "This is a real breakthrough for us. No other current railway project in Sweden is more complex or interesting," says Erik Severin, Managing Director of SWECO Energuide, SWECO's energy unit. Citybanan is a planned underground double-track railway line extending from the Stockholms Södra commuter train station in southern Stockholm to Tomteboda in the north. The new line will significantly improve rail capacity through central Stockholm. SWECO is also involved in planning and design of the new stations and entrances at Odenplan and City together with Carl Bro.
