SWECO has been commissioned to modernise a number of hydropower stations in Northern Finland. This extensive project is expected to take six or seven years to complete.

The task of modernising these hydropower stations will be carried out by SWECO’s consulting engineering company in Finland, SWECO PIC, together with hydropower specialists from SWECO VBB in Sweden. ”It’s gratifying that we continue to win projects in which consultants can co-operate across national borders,” says Kari Harsunen, Vice President, Process Industry Division at SWECO PIC. ”This shows once again that the merger with SWECO has enhanced our competitive edge.” The commission is being performed for PVO Vesivoima Oy, a Finnish hydropower producer. Upgrading the first power station will take place in 2006-2007. The objective is to increase its capacity by 10%. The total investment for this first phase is SEK 500 million.
