Sweco has been tasked by the Swedish Transport Administration with the project planning for two sections of the North Bothnia Line railway. The contracts have a total value of around SEK 200 million.

The North Bothnia Line, which is planned to run between Umeå and Luleå in Sweden, totals 250 km of new railway along the Norrland coast. Sweco's assignment includes the section between Sundbäck and Gryssjön, as well as the section between Bureå and Södra Tuvan – a total of 33 kilometers.

“The assignment sets stringent requirements in terms of expert competence in permit management, constructability, sustainability and innovative solutions. I am very proud that Sweco has won this prestigious contract,” says Anna Yman, Division Manager Transport, Sweco Sweden.

Sweco’s assignment entails the detailed project planning of the railway and road infrastructure for land and structures, as well as platform connections, platforms and station buildings for two regional train stations. Moreover, Sweco will prepare tender documents for construction contracts.

The total order value of the contracts is approximately SEK 200 million and the contracts are expected to be completed in 2025 and 2028 respectively.
