Direct route launched between Gothenburg Landvetter and Birmingham with bmi regional
bmi regional starts operating a new direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport to Birmingham. The great demand for connectivity to Great Britain's second largest city means a frequency of six departures a week beginning on the 8th May 2017.
Birmingham in the British West Midlands has a business life related to Gothenburg which is home to businesses ranging from multi-national companies through to small entrepreneurs, in sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals to manufacturing and automotive. Therefore the route will be in strong demand by the western Swedish business life. The route will also offer more capacity to the increasing number of Swedish leisure customers to the UK as well as British visitors in Gothenburg.
- With a new passenger record set for 2016 we are happy to start the new year by adding an additional destination from Gothenburg Landvetter. As many of the industries of Birmingham and Gothenburg are similar this new direct route has been highly demanded by the local business life. Therefore this is a joint effort by the airport, Göteborg Business Region and the Western Sweden Chamber of Commerce. Also the number of leisure customers between UK and Sweden are increasing so we are happy that bmi regional are adding this new capacity, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Airport Director at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
Commenting on the new launches, Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer from bmi regional, said: “We are delighted to be introducing flights from Gothenburg to Birmingham as part of our ongoing growth strategy to connect with the UK and UK businesses. The Midlands is a powerhouse for business and industry in the UK and to enable Gothenburg businesses to tap into that potential is a huge driver behind the launch. bmi regional is uniquely positioned to offer bespoke solutions to businesses and we are happy to once again be bringing the bmi regional level of quality, convenience, service and professionalism to customersbetween Gothenburg and Birmingham”.
