Norwegian to launch new route to Tromsø from Stockholm Arlanda Airport
Norwegian will increase the connectivity between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and the northern part of Norway by launching a new route to Tromsø. Starting on October 31st, Norwegian will operate the route twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.
Norwegian continues to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and their latest addition to the routes already on offer from the airport will be Tromsø in the northern part of Norway. Tromsø is the largest city in Northern Norway and is located 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. The beautiful city offers many attractions with magnificent nature experiences and a wide range of activities such as hiking and whale watching. During the winter months between September and March, you can experience the northern lights, and during the period May to July, the midnight sun makes for magnificent adventures.
- Norwegian has a longstanding presence at Swedavias airports and I’m delighted that they continue to expand by adding new, exciting destinations to their vast network of routes, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Norway is a very popular destination for many reasons, and we are happy to increase the connectivity to Tromsø from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, says she.
- Tromsø and the northern part of Norway holds a great interest for international travelers, with its powerful nature experiences, northern lights, fjord cruises, whale watching and much more. Therefore, it’s very gratifying that we now can offer travelers in Sweden direct flights from Stockholm Arlanda to Tromsø and we look forward to welcoming travelers on board, says Magnus Thome Maursund, Commercial Director at Norwegian.
Starting on the 31st of October, the route Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Tromsø (TOS) will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

About Norwegian
Norwegian is one of the Nordic countries' largest airlines and one of Europe's leading low-cost airlines with approximately 4,500 employees. The company offers an extensive route network between the Nordic countries and destinations in Europe. Since the company was founded in 2002, over 300 million passengers have flown with Norwegian. The ambition has always been to offer cheap plane tickets and increased freedom of choice during the trip.
Norwegian wants to be a driving force in aviation's green transition. The goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 45 percent by 2030. To get there, the company renews the aircraft fleet, promotes renewable aviation fuels, reduces and recycles waste, and uses weather and wind data for more efficient flights that reduce fuel consumption. Norwegian wants to be the most sustainable choice for passengers.
Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refueling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and its pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organization Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. Swedavia offers all passengers flying from one of Swedavia’s airports the option to purchase SAF for all or part of their journey via flygreenfund.se/swedavia.
Swedavia is a group that owns, operates and develops 10 airports throughout Sweden. Our role is to create the connectivity that Sweden needs to facilitate travel, business and meetings.
