About Norwegian
Norwegian is one of the Nordic countries' largest airlines and one of Europe's leading low-cost airlines with approximately 4,500 employees. The company offers an extensive route network between the Nordic countries and destinations in Europe. Since the company was founded in 2002, over 300 million passengers have flown with Norwegian. The ambition has always been to offer cheap plane tickets and increased freedom of choice during the trip.
Norwegian wants to be a driving force in aviation's green transition. The goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 45 percent by 2030. To get there, the company renews the aircraft fleet, promotes renewable aviation fuels, reduces and recycles waste, and uses weather and wind data for more efficient flights that reduce fuel consumption. Norwegian wants to be the most sustainable choice for passengers.
Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refueling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and its pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organization Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. Swedavia offers all passengers flying from one of Swedavia’s airports the option to purchase SAF for all or part of their journey via flygreenfund.se/swedavia.
