Passenger volume up in May

Passenger volume continues to rise at Swedavia’s airports. During the month of May, some 3,855,000 passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s airports, an eight per cent increase compared to 2016.

So far this year, 16,342,000 passengers have flown to or from Swedavia’s airports, an increase of almost seven per cent compared to the same period last year.

International travel was up, with a total of 2,510,000 passengers flying to or from international destinations in May, a nine per cent rise compared to the same month last year. In domestic travel, there were 1,345,000 passengers, a six per cent rise compared to May 2016.

A total of 2,431,000 passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport in May, a ten per cent increase compared to May last year. Some 1,908,000 passengers flew internationally to or from Stockholm Arlanda, an eleven per cent increase. Domestic travel was also up eight per cent, with passenger volume of 523,000.

Göteborg Landvetter Airport saw a seven per cent increase in passenger volume, with 608,000 people flying to or from the airport during the fifth month of the year. International travel was also up seven per cent, as 462,000 passengers flew internationally to or from Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Domestic travel was up five per cent.

Other increases in passenger volume were recorded at:
Åre Östersund, Ronneby and Kiruna Airport, which each saw an eight per cent increase in total passenger volume.
