Swedavia’s traffic statistics for November 2024: Airline investments in long-haul routes via Arlanda strengthen Sweden’s connectivity
During November, more than 2.3 million travelers flew through Swedavia’s airports, which is close to the levels in 2023. The trend of strong demand for international travel continues and increased by three per cent during the month. At the same time, both the supply and demand for domestic travel were reduced, and domestic travel was 12 per cent lower this month. Several airlines announced investments in new traffic and new long-haul routes via Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which strengthens Sweden’s connectivity.
“We are seeing a strong trend in international travel, and it is very gratifying that several airlines are investing in new long-haul routes via Arlanda. Norse Atlantic Airways will start operating at Arlanda and introduce a new direct route to Bangkok for the winter of 2025 and ANA will start flying Arlanda-Tokyo starting in January 2025. The investments will strengthen both connectivity and Swedish competitiveness over the long term,” says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia’s President and CEO.
New routes – December 2024:
Dubai-Arlanda with Norwegian
Pristina-Arlanda with Trade Air
Copenhagen-Kiruna with SAS
Paris-Kiruna with Air France
More traffic openings will be added during winter and spring 2025 in the airlines’ updated air traffic programme.
