August 29 over 200 corporate customers from every part of Sweden will travel with Swedbank to Shanghai. The programme consists of a series of seminars that will explore the possibilities and conditions for starting up production in China and how to make business on the Chinese market. A number of study visits at Chinese corporations and Industrial Parks in the Shanghai area will also take place. “The interest among our corporate clients for this journey has far exceeded all our expectations and it feels very good to be able to offer a programme full of knowledge, provided by experts on the Chinese market, to those who will take their time to go to China with us in quest of new business opportunities”, says Jan Lidén, CEO and President of Swedbank. “For a long time we have been aware of the growing interest among our customers in the business possibilities that China offers also to midsize and small enterprises. Since we have the ambition to follow our customers and serve them in the best possible way, we have applied to Chinese authorities to start a process with the aim to have our representative office in Shanghai upgraded to a fully licensed branch. Our representative office in Shanghai opened 2001, which means that we were the first among the Nordic banks to be represented there, says Jan Lidén. Swedbank’s journey to China together with 200 corporate customers coincides with the arrival in Shanghai of the historic sailing ship “Gotheborg” of which Swedbank is one of the main sponsors.
