Report this content

Swedbank has agreed with NASDAQ OMX Nordic, part of the NASDAQ OMX Group, to sell its minority stake in the NASDAQ OMX Tallinn exchange as part of a joint-effort to give NASDAQ OMX full ownership in the three Baltic exchanges and revitalize the countries’ capital markets.

The sale of the shares is a step in a joint co-operation initiative between Swedbank, NASDAQ OMX, SEB, East Capital and other Nordic banks operating on the Baltic markets aiming at revitalizing the local capital markets. With the support from these market participants, NASDAQ OMX Baltic also has the intention to launch a new single marketplace for trading of shares listed on the regulated markets NASDAQ OMX Tallinn, NASDAQ OMX Riga and NASDAQ OMX Vilnius. Prior to NASDAQ OMX’s acquisition of the shares in NASDAQ OMX Tallinn, Swedbank held 13.2 percent of the shares in NASDAQ OMX Tallinn.
