Swedbank strengthens its efforts within public affairs and recruits senior advisor and communication strategist with strong networks in politics, opinion making and media.

To further strengthen and develop the bank’s societal commitment and work within public affairs, Swedbank has hired Mikael Sekund, with many years of experience in public relations. Mikael Sekund has since the mid-80s worked with opinion making, e.g. as head of communication at S-E-Banken/SEB, and as head of public relations at Scania. Over the past 20 years, Mikael has run a consultancy firm specialized in public affairs.

Mikael Sekund has since 2010 been contracted by Swedbank as responsible for Regional Growth Days and to create networks together with young opinion makers and politicians. He is since 1 July hired as senior advisor.

Swedbank also hires Markus Sjöqvist as communication strategist. Markus most recently comes from the position as press secretary to Finance Minister Anders Borg and Financial markets Minister Peter Norman and has previously worked as political secretary in the Parliament. He takes up his position on 1 September.

”I am very glad to get both Mikael and Markus on board. Mikael holds a vast network within both the political world and within opinion making and Markus brings along up-to-date knowledge about the political system”, Thomas Backteman, Head of Corporate Affairs at Swedbank comments.

Swedbank has a long history of societal commitment and has during the past years strengthened this work through successful projects such as Young Jobs, Regional Growth Days and Junior Achievement.
