On March 27th 2010, at 8.30 pm CET millions of people globally will participate in “Earth Hour” by turning off the lights for one hour. Swedbank will participate this year too and invites its customers, employees and partners to do the same.

Swedbank will turn off the light at the headquarters in Kiev, Stockholm, Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. To achieve an even greater impact Swedbank, encourages its approximately 9.9 million customers and 21 000 employees to do likewise. Earth Hour is a global manifestation to encourage world leaders to take actions against climate change. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas will stand in darkness. The initiative has in a short period of time grown to a global activity. In 2009 more than 4 088 cities and 88 countries signed up for Earth Hour. Earth Hour is organized by WWF, which Swedbank since many years cooperates with.
