SLP has certified its first property under the international sustainability performance rating framework BREEAM In-Use. The certification is another important step forward for SLP’s efforts to create sustainable management of existing properties.

SLP has obtained the certification for BREEAM In-Use for the property Stigamo 1:33 in Jönköping with a “Very Good” rating.

”This is another step forward towards our target of 50 percent certified lettable area by 2025. We have ongoing certification processes under BREEAM In-Use for several of our properties, that will contribute both to reducing our operating costs as well as meeting our climate goals. BREEAM In-Use is one of the most well-established international sustainability performance rating frameworks for existing assets in Europe and constitutes an opportunity for SLP to identify both sustainable and profitable actions going forward”, says Viktoria Wöhl, Head of Sustainability, SLP.

The certification BREEAM In-Use was launched in 2009 and is the British BRE’s (Building Research Establishment) international sustainability performance rating framework for existing assets. The certification has been adapted to Swedish conditions and is administered by Sweden Green Building Council (“SGBC”) under BREEAM-SE. The buildings are assessed within certain categories that include management, health & wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, ecology and pollution. The property has a lettable area of approximately 4,500 sqm and is fully occupied.

”The certification BREEAM In-Use is an internationally recognized seal of quality of the buildings’ sustainability performance, which makes SLP a more attractable landlord and enables lower financing costs and in the long-term higher property values”, says Peter Strand, CEO of SLP.
