Ripasso Energy files a patent application
Ripasso Energy AB has today filed a patent application for the company's PWR BLOK 400-F product with the European Patent Office (EPO).
The Swedish clean tech company Ripasso Energy AB has filed a patent application for the company's PWR BLOK 400-F product with the European Patent Office (EPO). The application concerns a system for central monitoring and control of the working gas in each Stirling engine within a PWR BLOCK. The PWR BLOK is a unique Swedish product that uses Stirling engines to convert residual gases into environmentally-friendly electricity at half the cost compared to the second-cheapest way of generating electricity today. The invention claimed in the patent application makes the PWR BLOCK more affordable to manufacture and improves the product's efficiency.
Ripasso Energy received its first order for seven PWR BLOCK units from the South African ferrochrome producer Afarak Mogale in December 2018. These will be delivered and commissioned in 2019. In the autumn of 2018, Ripasso also signed a letter of intent with Glencore in South Africa for a deal involving between 44 and 136 PWR BLOK units.
“Because we will be delivering and commissioning the first PWR BLOK to Afarak Mogale in South Africa in 1Q 2019, it is important to seek protection for the parts of the technology that will now become public," says Gunnar Larsson, CEO of Ripasso Energy.
Ripasso Energy estimates that the company will have good prospects for defending the application just submitted in case of infringement. However, the Board of Directors and CEO will continuously monitor the status of IP protection for the PWR BLOK and increase the scope thereof as sales volume increases.
