Barsebäck agreement approved by shareholders at Sydkraft's Special General Meeting Shareholders at Sydkraft's Special General Meeting on Wednesday evening approved the agreement reached between the Swedish Government and Sydkraft regarding a premature decommissioning of Barsebäck's reactor 1. The agreement, which was announced the same day as Barsebäck 1 was shut down, on November 30, means that Sydkraft receives a 25.8-percent holding in Ringhals AB. This in turn means that Sydkraft will receive full compensation for Barsebäck 1 in the form of the corresponding electricity production, at the same cost and with the same environmental impact. The Government will present a bill to Parliament regarding this matter in January 2000. Parliament is expected to make a decision at some stage during the spring.
