Growth Investor Alfvén & Didrikson to Power Sympa’s International Expansion
Leading Nordic cloud-based HR solution provider receives €4.4M and targets growth in the Nordic and wider European markets
Helsinki, November 11, 2016. Nordic growth investor Alfvén & Didrikson, a specialist in finding and backing companies with high-growth capacity, is to take a stake in Sympa, the fastest-growing HR solution provider in the Nordic region. Sympa will use the investment to develop further its cloud and mobile-based platform and to accelerate growth.
It is the first time Alfvén & Didrikson has invested in a Finnish company. “We seek to invest in pioneering, forward-thinking companies with great customer satisfaction,” says Maria Åhr, Alfvén & Didrikson’s CEO. “What we saw in Sympa was an agile, next-generation HR technology company with a game-changing product, a SaaS model that’s perfect for its market, and it can be delivered to all devices, including mobiles.” The total amount of Alfvén & Didrikson’s investment in Sympa is €4.4M.

Karjalainen, who developed the first iteration of Sympa’s HR solution in 2005, also sees strong parallels between his company’s values and those of Alfvén & Didrikson. “Not many investment firms list ‘fun’ in their company values, but A&D does and so does Sympa,” Karjalainen says. “The two companies are a great fit and I'm quite certain we'll have even more fun working together."
The investment deal comes as Sympa announces yet another major partnership, with Amesto, a Pan-Nordic accounting, payroll and HR services company. Amesto also provides business solutions in ERP, CRM and HR, employing over 1,000 people. Amesto will act as a Sympa reseller in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
