Being awarded the internationally renowned B-Corp certification for exemplary corporate governance in the interest of society, the Munich-based functional textile specialist commits itself to public interest and environmental protection as its official corporate goals.

Munich / Unterföhring, 13 November 2018 – As one of the first German companies of the textile industry, Sympatex Technologies GmbH is awarded the internationally renowned hallmark for above-average corporate governance in the holistic interest of society beyond corporate borders.

B-Corp stands for a corporate concept which does not only act solely on the maxim of profit maximization, but equally commits itself to transparency, environmental protection as well as social responsibility. In the Outdoor Industry, Patagonia has been one of the best-known members of this movement for years.

After a thorough, multi-level audit process conducted by the US agency B-Lab, Sympatex Technologies has now been officially certified as a B-Corp. The articles of association have already been changed in form, obliging Sympatex not only to take the wellbeing of its shareholder and customers, but of all stakeholders, such as its employees, the environment as well as society equally into account when making decisions. Thus, the company’s explicit goal is that its business both achieves economic success as well as a significant positive effect on the common good as well as on the environment.

“Being an official member and part of the worldwide growing B-Corp community is not only a great honour for us. In times of increasing calls for „Me first“, we also want to send a signal that we as a commercial enterprise need to recognize our responsibility for the overall social and ecological system and must not abuse it unilaterally for our own interests“, explains Dr. Rüdiger Fox, CEO of Sympatex Technologies. “However, we are only at the beginning of this journey, since we will continue to further enhance our commitment, especially in the area of sustainability in the textile industry. The certification shows us where we stand right now and where further proactive action is still helpful in order to fulfil our role in society at large”, adds Fox.
