Synartro AB announced positive data from its completed Phase 1/2a clinical trial evaluating SYN321, with preliminary efficacy signals supporting further clinical development.

Synartro is developing SYN321, a locally administered investigational therapy for the treatment of symptomatic OA. The phase 1/2a clinical trial focused on safety, tolerability, PK, and early efficacy signals and was concluded during the first quarter of 2026.

Available data indicate that SYN321 was generally well tolerated across all evaluated dose levels, with no unexpected safety findings or dose-limiting toxicities observed.

Pharmacokinetic analyses show that systemic exposure remained low, and plasma diclofenac levels appear lower than those reported for oral and topical administration.

Preliminary analyses show efficacy signals that suggest a potential clinical benefit.

These findings support further evaluation of SYN321 in subsequent clinical studies. Ongoing analyses, including the final clinical study report, will provide additional insight into the overall data package.

‘We are encouraged by the preliminary data generated to date,’ said Magnus Hurst, CEO of Synartro. ‘The favourable systemic exposure profile and tolerability findings, together with the preliminary efficacy observed so far, support our planned discussions with regulators regarding the next stage of development.’
