Digia announces Symbiantm OS -based personal navigation client software DIGIAtmNavigator to accelerate location-based services for Symbian OS phones [Press release, Cannes, February 19th, 2002] -- Digia, a software supplier of Personal Communications Technologies and Solutions for Symbian OS phones, introduces DigiatmNavigator - a true mobile, graphical map-based personal navigation client software for maps, positioning, location dependent services, address finding and routing. The first version of the product is tailored for the Nokia 9210 Communicator. DigiatmNavigator for Nokia 9210 is a map-based navigation client software designed for communicators, smartphones and media phones using Symbian OS. It helps users in daily situations with maps, positioning, relevant location dependent services, such as address finding and routing. Digiatm Navigator compiles several and often very different location elements into a meaningful set of mobile information & services. Digia is committed to releasing a version of DigiatmNavigator for every significant Symbian OS phone. DigiatmNavigator uses standard technologies (GPS/NMEA, HTTP, XML, TEA) and contains simple interface (APIs) making it straight forward to create connection to various mobile services. It secures content providers copyright by encrypting the content into its own database and thus preventing further distribution. Optimized algorithms, multiple positioning system support and search/sharing functions guarantee good end-user satisfaction. A typical end-to-end solution consists of DigiatmNavigator client, http map server and geo-coded location information server. For positioning both satellite and network-based methods can be used, as well as geo- coded address searches from the map database. "This is a true mobile navigation software.
