Stockholm, Sweden, 03 February, 2010 - TagMaster, the leading producer of advanced RFID solutions for rail applications, has delivered RFID systems against a new order for approximately 1 MSEK from Funkwerk Information Technologies GmbH (Funkwerk IT) in Germany. The TagMaster equipment will be installed on the new U4 line of the HOCHBAHN light rail system in Hamburg. TagMaster has previously supplied RFID equipment to Hamburg for lines U2 and U3.

This new order covers the supply of TagMaster’s GEN4 HD Track Readers, which provide seamless integration with the existing TagMaster solution in Hamburg. The HD Track Readers are mounted on the track, directly on the sleepers, and provide both train location and direction detection information of the vehicle to the central control centre supplied by Funkwerk IT. TagMaster first delivered equipment to HOCHBAHN in 2004, when it was installed on lines U2 and U3 in Hamburg. The RFID system has since been reliably operating and provided the customer with the necessary reliability track record and confidence to again select a TagMaster solution for the new U4 line. “We are very pleased Funkwerk IT has again selected TagMaster as the RFID solution for Hamburg HOCHBAHN. This proves that the installation fulfilled the performance expectations to the full satisfaction of the end-customer and is in itself a quality stamp of the highest level for TagMaster. The combination of identification and direction detection in the same unit provides a winning solution in this type of application. The installation in Hamburg is now one of the largest TagMaster RFID systems in use on a Light Rail system in Europe”, says Richard Holt, Director of Transportation at TagMaster AB.
