Talkpool awarded 270 kEUR from the Horizon 2020 call “Digital solutions for water: linking the physical and digital world for water solutions”
The project focuses on developing solutions for water management in the smart cities of the future. Talkpool will contribute with its expertise in IoT solutions, to develop the IoT technology and data security in the project.
Climate change and urbanization have increased cities’ challenges for managing wastewater, storm water and flooding events. How can cities handle these challenges in a cost-effective way, while addressing UN Development Goals, EU policies and directives, engaging citizens in sustainable water management as well as contribute to a growing market for water-related SMEs? That is the central question within the Horizon 2020 SCOREwater Innovation project.
SCOREwater shall develop sensors and digital tools to improve waste water, storm water and flood management. The tools are developed and tested by relevant stakeholders, including communities, municipalities, companies and civil society, in iterative cooperation with developers, and thereby adapted to the needs of the stakeholders. The project will also develop and use digital services for cities, such as methods, games, and immersive experiences to increase public and civil society's commitment to water management. The project features a unique approach to identifying and using social and organizational enablers for the development and effective use of the tools.
The total funding for the project is close to 5 million EUR, of which approximately 270 thousand EUR is allocated to Talkpool for its contributions. The project consortia consist of 14 project partners, with a combination of research institutes, SMEs and the three cities Gothenburg, Amersfoort and Barcelona. The project duration is 4 years and is part of the Horizon 2020 Research program, initiated by the European Union. “We are excited to contribute to the project with our expertise in radio and security, combined with our experiences from previous projects of smart water management in Gothenburg, Sweden.
