Talkpool is divesting its Mauritius operations

As an important part of the structural changes in Talkpool Group communicated in August, daughter companies with low financial or strategical contribution to the group will be restructured or divested to free up resources for prioritized markets.

One of the daughter companies that have been evaluated for sales for a while is Talkpool Mauritius. Talkpool entered the Mauritian market in 2016 when Huawei was looking for a skilled partner to help them deploy a fibre optic network on the island. Since the main fibre optic network roll out project Talkpool’s business in Mauritius has been in decline and our analysis of the market is that it is too small and does not offer Talkpool enough potential to keep the majority in a legal entity in country. The revenue in Mauritius was close to zero at the end of Q2 and the net result was negative. So the impact of the divestment on the revenue of Talkpool Group is insignificant whereas the impact on the group result will be positive.

The majority of Talkpool’s shares have been bought by the local company manager at a symbolic price.
