Commercial director makes dash for Guide Dogs
Arkessa Director runs marathon for charity The commercial director at the Cambridge-based telecoms firm, Arkessa, will be running in the London Marathon to raise vital funds for the charity, Guide Dogs.
For months, Philip Chaplin has been pushing his size 14 feet into running shoes to pound the roads in all weathers. Although already a keen runner, he’s upped his training to a punishing level for the April 17 event. He is covering more than 40 miles a week with training partner Ruby, the family pet and a former guide dog. Philip, who will be joining more than 35,000 runners in the thirty-first London race, is hoping to complete the 26.2 mile course in under four hours. And rather than having a sponsored place, he was successful in securing his own position on the start-line. That gives him the choice: whether to raise money and to whom it should go. Philip chose to use it as an opportunity to raise money for Guide Dogs. He said: “My family has a retired Guide Dog and, having seen how they can change people’s lives, I wanted to help. Every penny raised will go to Guide Dogs and, as Virgin Money Giving reclaims the tax already paid on each donation, every penny raised will make a difference.” You can support Philip by making a donation at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PhilipChaplin
