If you want to beat Santa to the draw why not pop onto the internet and have a look at Dartington Crystal. They have many Christmas ideas and this year’s bonus is they have many pieces of Olympic London 2012 glassware already available to commemorate next year’s major event.

The range covers many different items from coasters to wine glasses and paperweights to photo frames featuring the Union Jack, the London skyline, the London 2012 emblem and of course the Olympic and Paralympic mascots ‘Wenlock’ and ‘Mandeville; the mascots are named after a town in Shropshire ‘Much Wenlock’ a village that inspired the Olympic idea and the Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire.

Photo Frames

There are three photo frames in the collection, two modern looking Union Jack frames in pink or blue and a glass block frame with a red, white and blue Union Jack and the Olympic emblem to the front. The block is made up of two pieces of glass with a space between them to slide your photo into; whatever photograph you decide to put in the frame it will certainly stand out.

Paperweights

The paperweights come in three different styles all made of glass; there are four square ones displaying the Union Jack in one colour, these come in blue, pink, green and orange; three round ones displaying the Olympic London 2012 emblem with a back colour of either orange, blue or green and two teardrop shaped paperweights one with a stenciled Union Jack and one with an engraved Union Jack. They are all very stylish and would grace any desk or office; it would also stand alone as an ornament.

With two sizes of square plain glass blocks featuring the Olympic emblem in the statutoryUnion Jack colours. Further to these are two glass blocks with Union Jacks, one of which is the solid flag the other is the outlined flag. Wenlock and Mandeville also make an appearance in glass gift blocks, one each on a blue or orange background.

Sand Casts

A sand cast is made by pouring molten glass into a sand/bentonite mould and is a very appealing ornament. There are four in the collection, three square ones with blue, orange or green Union Jacks. The fourth is limited edition rectangular sand cast with the London Skyline on a blue background; this is a very nice ornament which anyone would be proud to own.

Glass Coasters

A pack of four London 2012 glass coasters is available, and each one has a differentLondon landmark pictured on it in red and blue along with the Olympic London 2012 emblem in the corner. Each coaster has rubber studs on the underside so they do not go slipping from under your drink. The coasters, like many of the other items, are engravable so you can make the gifts a little more personal by putting your very own message or name on the item.
