“RISE TO”: The Enterprise Challenge

What: Win an opportunity to gain valuable skills, work internships and even cash on your path to be one of the UK’s next generation of entrepreneurs … enter RiseTo www.RiseTo.co.uk; The Enterprise Challenge, a national team competition backed by Red Bull,  Virgin Media, IBM and McKinsey.

You: Form a team! Design and run a 6-week campaign to promote an “unsung hero” in your community. Pick an outstanding individual, charity, or other group, and raise their public profile. Run your campaign as a mini-business with roles for each team member. This is your chance to shine as leader, PR officer or marketing officer.

We: Provide the top 50 teams (4 to 6 entrants per team) with week-by-week guidance, including an interactive online training programme and support from mentors.

Prizes: Opportunities to shadow company leaders and develop workplace skills; unique internships; job offers. Around 100 opportunities available, so your odds are good at winning something!

For: 18-24 year olds, but everyone is welcome to try. The Challenge is part-time so anyone can participate… you can be unemployed, studying or working.

Deadline for applications: 21stJanuary 2012, but get going now! Early entrants will be given preference.

Why: Small and medium-sized companies are the lifeblood of Britain’s economy. Build your business know-how now to improve your chances of setting up as an entrepreneur. Boost the skills and creativity you need on your CV to stand out in today’s tough job market.

Judges: Tim Campbell (first winner of The Apprentice), James Eder (Student Beans), Mike Clare (Dreams), Georgia Arnold (MTV).

Details: Previous campaigns have enlisted the support of celebrities Davina McCall and Sarah Brown and politicians Karen Buck, Boris Johnson and Baroness Thornton. Success will be judged on tangible team outputs and achievements: the number of messages of support each team receives, press coverage and creative marketing campaigns.
