TC TECH receives patent approval in Taiwan that strengthens the protection of the company’s technology platform

TC TECH Sweden AB (publ) has received a patent approval in Taiwan for the patent application ”Device and method for heating a Mould or Tool”. The approval in Taiwan follows earlier approvals in Japan and China for the same patent family within electromagnetism, that strengthens and extends the patent protection for the company’s general technology platform. The patent will be valid until the 13th of June 2032.

TC TECH’s technology platform makes it to possible to use induction (electromagnetism) to heat up, emboss and cool down detailed objects made of plastic, or other materials, with nanometer precision. The approved patent will protect the basic use of electromagnetism in the technology platform.

“This patent approval is encouraging as it extends the patent protection for our technology platform on an important Asian market. Corresponding patent applications have been filed in several other important markets in Asia, Europe and North America,” says TC TECH CEO Alexander Luiga.

Initially, TC TECH has developed a production system for the manufacturing of a new generation of light guide plates (LGPs) that can substantially reduce the energy consumption in edge-lit LCD displays, while at the same time improving the picture quality. Edge-lit LCD displays are used in the majority of all mobile phones, tablets, laptops, computer displays and TVs on the market today. TC TECHs technology platform also has the potential to be used within several additional application areas.

Two production systems for the manufacturing of LGPs have been delivered in Taiwan, and they are now being used in demanding industrial conditions. This makes it possible to continuously improve the production system for optimal performance during high-volume manufacturing.
